WARNING: From 7 July till Early 2026, the road between Kingie and KinlochHourn will be shut from Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 17.30 due to roadworks. The road will remain open at the weekend. During this period, you can only reach Barrisdale by foot via Inverie or from Kinloch Hourn over the weekend.

From Inverness 68 miles (allow 2.5 hours by car)  – take A82 to Invergarry & Fort William. At Invergarry turn RIGHT onto the A87. After 5 miles turn LEFT sign posted to Kinloch Hourn & Tomdoun. Drive to the very end of the 22 miles road you will come to the Lochhournhead B&B. Park in the long stay car park and contine on foot along the path from Kinloch Hourn to Barrisdale it is about a 4 hour walk.

From Fort William 48 miles (allow 2 hours by car) – take A82 to Inverness until you reach Invergarry turn LEFT onto the A87.  After 5 miles turn LEFT signposted to Kinloch Hourn & Tomdoun. Drive to the very end of the 22 miles road you will come to the Lochhournhead B&B. Park in the long stay car park and continue on foot along the path from Kinloch Hourn to Barrisdale it is about a 4 hour walk.

Walking from Inverie Takes about 4 hours It’s a good walk on an old stalkers’ path; you have a short uphill walk to Mam Barrisdale and then a long downhill walk to the Bay.
