Barisdale Estate lies within Barisdale Bay along the south shores of Loch Hourn on the Knoydart Peninsula with spectacular views of Beinn Sgritheall (3195 ft) towering above Arnisdale to the north, the majestic Ladhar Bheinn (3346 ft) to the west and out towards Skye as well as Luinne Bheinn (3018 ft), with Meall Buidhe (3104 ft) tucked in behind, standing proudly to the south.
Situated in a mountainous and largely undisturbed wilderness, Kinloch Hourn provides an excellent base for climbing munro’s in the area as well as having an abundance of wildlife and precious examples of rare flora and fauna for vigilant visitors to see.

Accommodation is available at Kinloch-Hourn (7 miles approx) or from Inverie (10 miles approx). Careful planning of your trip is required . The route is arduous and you should be fit and in good health.

The Stables

Located at the end of the bothy, The Stable offers more luxury as well as views over the Barrisdale river towards Luinne Bheinne.

Converted into accommodation during the summer of 2004, this cosy self catering unit can sleep up to 5 people and is available to rent on an exclusive basis. If vacant and not pre-booked The Stable can be let on site at per person/per night prices.

 

 The White House

The Whitehouse is a stone cottage, located approximately 700 yards further up the Inverie path towards the bothy and the campsite. 

As a self-catering cottage it can sleep up to 12 people and is available to rent on an exclusive basis.                                                                                                                   

 

The Bothy

At Barrisdale Estate, we are pleased to offer The Bothy, located in the charming old stable building. This humble abode features a communal room, two bunk rooms, electricity, and a toilet. Open throughout the year, The Bothy is a welcoming shelter for weary walkers seeking a dry place to rest. Please note that accommodations are provided on a first-come, first-served basis, and we do not accept bookings for the Bothy

 The Bay View Cottage

The Bay View Cottage is situated in the recently constructed block adjacent to the Stables and Bothy at Barrisdale Estate. This charming cottage offers accommodation for up to four guests and serves as an ideal hub for those wishing to venture out and explore the enchanting surrounding area. Guests have the convenience of booking the cottage online through our website or securing it in person upon arrival, subject to availability. Whether for a weekend getaway or a longer stay, the Bay View Cottage promises a comfortable and inviting retreat amidst the picturesque setting of Barrisdale Estate.

The Campsite

The campsite is ideally situated as a natural base camp for climbing the surrounding hills and is about half way between Kinloch Hourn and Inverie.

Campers are requested to use the designated campsite, adjacent to the bothy for joint use of its facilities, in particular w/c’s, provided to keep the surrounding bay area clean and tidy to minimize disturbance to wildlife.
